The Lone Rose

What is the story of this rose?

Is it a tribute to the names on the bench dedication plaque?

Was it left there in memory of someone?

Or was it abandoned?

The lone rose, the last representation of a broken heart,

abandoned by some young man or woman after having their heart rejected.

Were there tears shed over this rose?

Happy tears of memories long past.

Tears of a happy life shared.

Or sad tears?

A date turned down,

Feelings not reciprocated,

A proposal gone wrong,

A heart shattered in pain.

Maybe it was left there in hope.

A symbol to people passing by that there is still love in the world.

A reminder that love still exists.

A reminder to show love to the people in their life.

That life if short.

To take time out of your day to tell that friend you cherish them,

tell a parent they are loved,

hug a child that much harder,

appreciate oneself a little extra.

To be kind.

To be polite.

Hold open that door,

Thank that barista,

Treat others with kindness.

The single rose left propped on a bench.

Could mean so much.
